In some contests the team that fails is frequently the team who performs in a manner consistent with their inadequate result. Today however, inside of Lion Stadium in Payson, the Dons cruised to a 4-0 victory that should have seen a score double that, or higher.
Goals from Junior Andrew Radford, Sophomore Davis Paxton, and Seniors Caden Parcell and Jesus Mendez were all well-deserved and pretty scores, but the play up and down the field is not representative of the Dons team we’ve seen thus far in Region 10 play.
The Payson Lions looked a little disconnected as well, suggesting that perhaps the moon is in some unusual phase or maybe the warmer weather and greener grass had caused a bit of spastic Spring Fever.
Regardless, the result was just what the Dons needed as they begin a busy week of soccer, with two of their three games happening on the road.
On Wednesday Salem Hills visits Spanish Fork for leg one of a rivalry matchup that will see the Dons face the Skyhawks in the first of two. Salem sports a solid record, but is coming fresh off an overtime loss to Orem.
The week for the Dons finishes on Friday as they make the 7-hour round trip to Vernal to face the Utes of Uinta.
