With temperatures slipping below freezing in much of North and Central Utah today, one little pocket of turf in North Orem was red hot. The visiting Dons of Spanish Fork warmed things up considerably with a commanding win over the home team Timberwolves of Timapnogos. The Dons blanked the Wolves with a pair of goals in each frigid half, resulting in the 4-0 win in non-region play. Excellent ball movement with precision passes and textbook buildups allowed sophomores Davis Paxton and Enoch Pendleton one a piece. The remaining two goals were the result of the relentless pressure and punishing shots of junior forward Alexis Baez and senior back Ryker Barton.
“It might not have looked that good if you were watching from the sidelines,” said Assistant Coach, Nick Parcell, “but it was rather solid play when you consider how wet and cold things are today. These kids played with real heart today – and that is tough to do when you can’t even feel your feet!”
The Dons are on a roll and hope to extend their streak by one more on Friday as they travel to Lehi to face the Pioneers. Each team begins the second half of region play on Friday. Game time is 3:30 at Lehi Stadium.
